Well said. These guys are taking something that should be rare and special and debasing it. Today’s strip is a particularly egregious example. For two panels, Chalkie is talking to the other guy, and then delivers the punch line to us. Why? In my opinion, breaking the fourth wall should almost always be a reaction shot. One character says something while the other character looks at the audience as if to say “can you believe this?”.

Around the league, Andy’s known as the, ‘Preemptive Striker’

So on Sunday we have the referee giving Andy a “preemptive” red ticket and today Andy is having a “preemptive” retaliation. I suppose they’ve all had their “preemptive” beer to celebrate, too.

I like the ‘dizzy’ effect in the last panel.

I counted 2 football ones last week. I thought there were 3.

I found it amusing (and still do) when Reg Smythe drew an injured football player clutching his leg and his mouth was really wide open.

This is what I’m talking about:

I always preferred the single panel strips with the caption underneath but as long as it was very hilarious (which it always was) then I didn’t mind how many panels it had.

Good evening Cappers! Trying to catch up with all the comments. So far behind!

Affie, I am sorry for Connie’s loss. Were her and her cousin close? I have cousins I am close to and some I barely know, and they are my FIRST cousins.

I have skimmed over the comments for the past couple days, I hope everyone is well.

Oh AFFIE I left a comment for you at todays Ten Cats. You can’t MISS IT! LOL!

    Has anyone heard from Linquist?

Thanks bev! I had read that, but then I think that was a while back, so I wondered if anyone else had heard anything. He’s always been very nice to me in his posts when we cross paths, and I find his comments interesting.
