This may be one of the few times I am willing to admit I haven’t a clue about what “might” be a real world explanation. Everything I can think of is covered and eliminated by a phrase in most fraternities when the special grip is described: “whereby one brother may know another in the dark as well as the light.” I just can’t imagine a relationship without touching.

Read “Suits Me: The Double Life of Billy Tipton” for a very interesting biography. Very inexpensive and available. I think it will clear up questions how this might be feasible.

There are quite a few couples who are together for love and not sex, so if they sleep separately the question of “deceit” does not arise.
