Those Daffy and Speedy toons were a result of Corporate Downsizing. The Termite Terrace, responsible for the best toons ever made 1930-50s, was eliminated/fired from Warner Brothers. The company sold their toons to TV, and outsourced the characters for theatrical cartoons. But, there wasn’t a writer, some would say no animator either, at the company. They just 2 characters together, did some anvil drops, and 8 minutes later, the movie started.
Meanwhile, Chuck Jones was doing Tom and Jerry, and Grunch.
