Hey, is that a potay toe? I hear she’s been ill…..They say she’s got on foot in the gravy…Hopefully this will be the last episode of Mash…..I hear he’s good at makin’ toe jams, too! His wine has an interesting bouquet…..and a nutty aftertaste…

Personally, I hope he’s mashing those potatoes for some purpose other than, you know…. eating.

Varnes… you know there’s no bar cooler than the Tiki!

Especially when there’s a blaze nicely crackling in the big brick fireplace and the whole place is toasty warm….which makes it cool. And we’d even let you in after those jokes…not many places would, you know.

    Essex…. I hesitate to ask…but whole bricks?

Do you think that’s… you know….. where the expression comes from?

You know, a few hours after you eat those mashed potatoes?

    Mornin’ Dog….

Ewal Doh…um… I’d love to take credit for actually producing that masterpiece of patisserie…that pinnacle of pi-ness….

and yes, somebody cut all those digits from pie crust….I’ve seen tiny alphabet and numeral cutters that would work…and actually laid them all out in correct order. (Ok, I didn’t check very far, but probably)

But no…. it wasn’t I. In fact, I think it won a pi day contest some years back.Ballard Street hosts a whole imaginary community… we’re glad you stopped by.If you stick around, you’ll see that we post many pictures, hopefully that fit the “storyline..”and some of us alter them to fit that day’s tale a little better, or for humor…But…. we find them, usually, in.. um…. in big boxes of photographs in the back of our …OK, no….truth is, we almost always find them on the internet.I usually don’t talk about it cos it breaks our imaginary 4th wall…but I don’t want you thinking I baked that! What I did do is change the shape…. even though it won a contest, it was rectangular.I adjusted the height:width ratio to make it square…. cos… of course…pi are squared.Stay and have a beer at the Tiki Bar… it never closes.Beautiful dog, BTW…. Brittany?

The Tiki never closes, but I’m folding my tent…..

Just a reminder…. March 15th is not only the Ides of March, it’s Leftover Pi Day.

I assure you there’s nothing untoward in my leftover pi…no need to beware.

    G’night….

@Perkycat.Think of it as an industrial potato masher.I wonder if it/they would be usefull in the kitchen down at the Tiky

What bothered me most about it were:1) Merrill still has the other shoe on and appears to have just removed the sock (precluding that ANY washing has occurred).2) Mashed potatoes need to be on the high side of warm to mash properly (unless possible ricing) so that make me wonder about sobriety.3) Wife Mabel seems unperturbed (in fact approving). I think I’d be as unlikely to accept a dinner invite there as to the Penny’s.

OH no…Stop the action, this can’t be happening. I see it, I know, but what is it? Is it a metaphorical, is it a vision of what is to come, is it imagination gone wild, no it’s checks and dots and life on Ballard Street. Again, Merrill you have taken the path less traveled, more to the point you have taken a path unknown, uncharted and fairly “f” bombing far out. Organic I will give you that. Native, yes. Primitive, yes. Hard to imagine neither of you took the time to change into the appropriate costume. Where are the feathers, the ankle bells, no paint, no smoke, no turtle sacrifice, when are you going to release the pigeons? What ever it is, get it done, the guests are arriving and if they see this, they will freak out. Remember the time you took a goat fishing, how about the time the cow got off bus at the down town hub and had no place to go, remember Ruby Tuesday, remember Walter’s advice he told you not to call again didn’t he. On the Monopoly Board of life you have just passed Go and then some. Shirley we will discuss this later, for now all I can say is, “oh my goodness”.

Well, in some countries, they make wine by stomping on the grapes with their feet. Maybe Merrill will take that up next.

It was nice of you to pose for the photo EWAL DOH. I mean, while you were checking your emails. Don’t let Fenton fool you at the Tiki. He looks like a bouncer, but he is one of the best bartenders in town, next to the little monkeys. Well, I guess they are the servers, aren’t they Susan? They would need a team of them to shake the cocktail shaker.

Busy day…. had to catch up on key lime pies and all manner of other things…no mashed potatoes, I’m sure, till I can forget today’s strip…especially with the proposed additions by Essex and Bev….

So many great videos to watch… but alas, I’m not home…and I’m the only person still up in this house.Everybody from the smallest child to the oldest Grandma, not to mention the bunny in her cage, are sound asleep, and I believe none of them particularly want to hear David Bowie right now, even though I do!

Hopefully I’ll be home tomorrow night in time to catch up.

The internet connection is spotty here as well…and I have to get up earlier than usual, so I’ll soon be calling it a night.

Shika … the little monkeys do everything a bartender does, cos they’re the night shift bartenders on Tuesdays and Thursdays, which are Fenton’s nights off…with some help from the Fireman on Thursday nights.

It’s true, it DOES take several of them to use a cocktail shaker…but about a dozen come in for a shift….I never know exactly how many cos they scamper about…nor do I know their exact names.

Names are complicated in monkey language… our Sheriff calls himself MonkeyBlues cos he fronts a blues band, but we can’t pronounce his real monkey name so he’s “the Monkey”.

I address the little ones as “little monkeys.”

Though they are child-like, they have to be adults to work here, though I’m not sure how old that is…but the Monkey knows, and he owns the bar.We have a sign that shows how tall they need to be…we just don’t want them to drop the drinks or fall into one…you may have seen it.

They’re hard workers; they idolise Fenton, who trained them….and Big Monkey, the boss….and they share a paycheck, so it all works out.

    And now… it’s a night.There, I called it one….

Bunch of fun guys, thanks, Shika!

Enough potatoes! We had a big pot of corned beef and cabbage that he cooked last night (with both potatoes and carrots as well) turned out very yummy! We discussed his brewing skills as we plan this camping event (no homemade brew for tis one) but I’ve a mind to try some easy recipes so we don’t spend much time cooking out.

I bought 25# of almond flour for the price break (because I love crackers and macroons with it) but I’m going to try pre-mixing some pancakes with that and some dehydrated egg. We can eat for those 2 breakfasts with some bananas and honey. I can enjoy that. I’ll make a test batch tomorrow and another at his house next week.
