Good commentary on the perspective of the left – conventional morality is meaningless. That is why the left endeavors to criminalize political differences.

It’s fine to take a moral stand, but the impact is sort of lost when you refuse to take the moral stand and face the consequences of your choice. Compare to Mohammed Ali – opposed to the Vietnam War and refused to be drafted. Stayed in the US and faced jail rather than run to Canada. Although he did not actually go to jail he took a hit to his career. I have much more respect for him than I do Snowden. … And I am a Liberal.

It never occurred to this genius, going in to a project working with sensitive government data, that something might offend his moral sensibilities? Only children ask for do-overs. Adults don’t run away and hide when they take a tough stand; they take the consequences. And no, to Edwin’s point, moral and legal are often not the same thing. But integrity does not allow for what Snowden did, the equivalent of ding-dong-ditch. There’s no respect due either side of this issue.
