A new form of “chain letter” has become prevalent on Facebook and other social networking sites. For example, they may start with “If you love [support, believe in, etc.] your mother [sister, teacher, nurse, etc.] share this.” They often rely on guilt to ensure propagation (If you don’t share then you must not love your mother!). I always wonder who starts these and why. Some are probably heartfelt but I can imagine some are put out there almost as a game to see how quickly a message spreads.
It’s been many years since I’ve received a chain letter in the snail-mail. Interesting point about Facebook though – I think it’s the same motivation as the traditional chain letters.
It has been years since I have gotten personal snail mail(other than the occasional greeting card on b’day or Christmas). Everything else is bills, official notices and junk.
