stark, dark toon … scary too. Was listening to someone (don’t remember who) talk about the danger of some countries who have been moving toward democracy and capitalism now abandoning it because their populations are in such dire straits, poverty, etc.,

BCS, Bulgaria and Romania especially are having problems due to too many of the “Good old Boys” still in positions of power.

oldie, if your an EU citizen you have legal status anywhere in the EU. Jobs are supposed to be open for all EU citizens when qualified. Kinda like a Californian getting a job in Alabama. The Brit’s can’t fuss they’e all over the place.

fennec, you may well be on track as I haven’t been monitoring Ireland but very little. More attuned to the Poles though. For a while a lot of Poels were returning home because things were getting better there and they were able to retain a larger portion of their income, ie travel expenses living exprenses away from home. There were a couple dozen working for a construction firm here in town. They lived two to a converted container room for a week or two then made it ome for an occasional week-end. Used to meet with some now and then while walking the dog in the evenings. We’d walk a while and “converse” in “English-Polish” German. Usually home and family were the themes.

It is a scary thought provoking toon. Of course what goes on in our country is stark, too. Have you watched “The Wire” on HBO?
