We prefer to call it “top soil”.

Very true. And when it comes to species names, we will both use a word that means “people”. Unless the human is speaking Hebrew, in which case the alien will say, “You named your species after dirt?”

Sure why not Earth is a nice name. There is also earth wind and fire.
