Honestly, the way Goat talks about this is a little misleading… as he says, 24 million votes were cast in “American Idol”, but 50 million were cast for Bush in 2000, who won—but 51 million votes were cast for Al Gore, who lost the election but won the popular vote. Plus Ralph Nader got 3 million votes. He’s comparing ALL the votes in “American Idol” to less than half the votes in the election—actually, the number of votes cast for “Idol” was less than 25% of the votes cast in the election—hardly valuing it “almost as highly”. And no, I don’t have a life. How did you know?
