Adam: How'd you get started in the garbage business? Man: I come from a long line of garbagemen. Grandpa was in trash, dad, my uncles. Everyone but my brother, he shamed the family name. Adam: Prison? Man: Nope. Worse. Adam: Worse than prison? Man: Yup. He runs a payday loan company. Adam: Oh, gosh. Sorry.

Yeah, at least the garbage business is honest.

Yeah, but his brother tells their mom that he’s the bouncer at a strip club. Less painful for her than running a payday loans place.

One of my brothers is a lawyer and the other is a banker. However, to protect the family name we tell people they are crack dealers.

“excuse me, I didn’t mean to say the enterprise should be hauling garbage I meant to say that the enterprise IS garbage”

My brother is indirectly employed by Harley Davidson, and I ride a Honda. I’ve visited him at work, and much ribbing has resulted (although it has been purely good-natured, and received as such). After all, I’m aware of the sentiment “I’d rather see my sister in a whorehouse than my brother on a Japanese bike.”
There’s nothing shameful about being in the garbage business; it’s a dirty job, but somebody’s got to do it. There’s a very good Australian movie called “Kenny” about a guy who rents and maintains portable restroom facilities. It’s a comedy (it’s made “mockumentary”-style), with much bathroom humor (it is to be expected), but Kenny himself is shown to take his job seriously and respectfully. He’s a decent guy.

“Oh, sheesh, that’s not as bad as my brother-in-law though!”
“What’s he do?” says Adam…
“Supervises a green-friendly recycling plant”
“disgraceful…”
