Logging is America's most dangerous job. On average, more than one lumberjack died each week in 2012. The Nobel prize winning physicist Niels Bohr was also a goalkeeper for the top Danish soccer club Akademisk Boldklub. The pen tailed tree shrew drinks alcohol fermented plant nectar with the strength of beer- but never gets drunk!

Interesting. I always thought that firefighters had the most dangerous job of all. And maybe they should do some research to see why the tree shrew doesn’t get drunk; the secret might be applied to humans (who definitely need it).

The pen-tailed tree shrew metabolizes the alcohol differently than we do". And it is the only source of nourishment for them. Studies are being done, but so far no cigar. http://www.livescience.com/7540-tree-shrew-sober-drinking-day.html

Yeah, we’ve all heard this one before. Well, the pen-tailed tree shrew may SAY he’s not drunk, but still, don’t give him the keys to your car!

US President is the most dangerous job of all. Out of 43 US presidents, Grover Cleveland is counted twice since he had non-consecutive terms so Obama is 44th president, four have been assassinated. There is no other job in the world with that high a percentage of mortality.

There’s an easy way to reduce lumberjack death – start growing and using industrial hemp for paper instead of trees.

I recall hearing that when forestry is classified as part of agriculture, then agriculture is the most dangerous sector. The most dangerous animal is the dairy bull.

It seems that working on the flight deck of a aircraft carrier should be in the top 5 dangerous jobs..

Tree shrews can handle alcohol better than cedar waxwings and bears do. Those birds and bears get drunk like we do; not that they KNEW they were ingesting alcohol, let alone what would result; the cedar waxwings fell out of the trees they were in. I think the bears consumed grapes after they had had time to ferment; we know bears like berries.I count eight presidents dying in office: our ninth, twelfth, sixteenth, twentieth, twenty-fifth, twenty-ninth, thirty-second, and thirty-fifth. An attempt was made on Truman, and two attempts on Ford. One was made on Reagan.
