Let’s see, I’ve paid $81,000 into social security and my employer paid the same. I’m not good at math, but I believe on the market money doubles every eight years. So 40 years of interest on $160,000 is what? Oh, you mean the government forgot to save and invest my money? So when I grow old I’m supposed to think of this as government handout and not my earned/saved/taxes paid on money.. Despite the recent market dip, I’m sure glad I trusted Wall Street with my 401k and not Capitol Hill.

I agree with Lewreader - stop knocking the elderly on SSI - not all retired people are rich and many have worked all their lives, Hard work! Judge not, you need to walk in someone’s mocassins before you speak against them!

As to the cash for clunkers, it was a smoke screen and dealers and buyers actually lost money on the program!

Ask not what you can give to your country, ask what your country can steal from you …

I also agree with Lewreader. And most good doctors don’t even want new Medicare patients (even with a good supplemental)
