Mom says redheads have fiery, un-compromising temperaments! Alice: Petey, your hair is orange. Petey: Yeah, okay, maybe. Alice: Trust me, we studied colors in preschool this year.

If Petey’s hair is orange (and I’ll trust Alice’s informed assessment), I’d call Alice’s hair “burnt orange” and note that Mom’s description applies to her also….

I think that Petey is admitting that he’s not a redhead (fiery, uncompromising), but an orangehead (maybe not so much that other stuff).
