I agree. While my parents were definitely Pluggers, and I’m rapidly joining the ranks, none of us would ever care to own a black velvet painting - especially of Elvis!
With the caption describing the plugger “he knows what he likes”, I thought of Jiles Perry Richardson, Jr. (aka The Big Bopper; yesterday was the 51st anniversary of his death along with Buddy Holly and Ritchie Valens) and his song “Chantilly Lace.”
Just because we don’t like what they like, that doesn’t make them “loutish oafs”. Besides, my Nana was a huge Elvis fan – if she thought she could’ve gotten away with it, she’d’ve had “The King” all over the house.
