And there I was... Face to face with the beast... It's foul goat blood breath upon me!... Now, Sedgwick! I'll hear no more of this nonsense! It is entirely unfitting for a Nuttingham to believe in such fantastical gobbledygook! El chupacabras indeed! But auntie Nell! It's all true! I swear! Please Sedgwick! This begins to recall the time you sent out to capture the Easter Bunny, and we wound up with a hobbled UPS employee in a Burmese tiger trap!

Wow…An adult Nuttingham.
Have we ever seen one before?I believe we heard Sedgewick’s father… as a voice coming from an open door…but I can’t think of another instance.

Sheriff Mordecai…. if you drop by…I left you a long reply on yesterday’s strip.
I know you seldom have time to post, so I didn’t expect an answer —but I thought I’d give you a heads up just in case you didn’t see it.

I think maybe Jim’s decided to try and humanize the little creep – is Auntie Nell’s presence an indication that perhaps Sedgie’s mother has passed away at some point in time? That he’s being raised by an absentee tycoon father and a strange old woman who dresses like the queen? Maybe this gives us some insight into why Jarvis seems to have taken him under his wing…

Sedgie is the best character on this strip. Well best human character that is.

I think Auntie Nell is a riff on Downton Abbey’s Countess Grantham, as played by Maggie Smith.
