Woman: How in heaven's hame did that movie get four stars? Man: Easy. It was foreign, subtitled, depressing and four hours long. Did I snore? Woman: I don't know. I was asleep before you were.
This was me during âOut of AfricaââŠ.we think that I never even made it thru the creditsâŠ.have never been able to see this movie without falling asleepâŠ.:-)
I must be old.. I remember when movies were long, like plays in a Theater. At mid-point, you had to have a break to get up and stretch (and anything else that might be necessary), so that you could finish watching the film. They still do it on certain Movie Channels without commercials, like TCM, when they play âGone with the Windâ.
MaxCat: In the case of Lawrence of Arabia, TCM not only takes the full intermission time, but continues the audio of the background music to be played during that period.
