I agree with Dani – I haven’t used a dryer in many years. Here in AZ things dry quickly on the line year round and smell lovely (and I only buy detergent that has NO scents).
Even though birds sometimes sit on the line, they seldom do when things are hanging (and I have lots of birds because I feed them).
Hanging to dry outside is wonderful. Except when the wind changes direction and the sooty columns of smoke (they only look white) from the pulp mill make their way up the hill and through the laundry hanging on the line. (yes – this happened enough times to make mom swear loudly.)

the only thing bad about hanging clothes on the line is that birds also sit on the line.
