Methinks The Tankster should interview The King of the One and Done recruits, John Calipari. But if One and Done will Not achieve NBA Success, Maybe Two and through will

“Did you go to college?” “No, I went to a basketball team.”

I’m a bit conflicted by this debate. On the one hand, very few players are ready to play in the NBA after one or two years in college (let alone straight out of high school). On the other, why is it okay to make someone wait until they’ve been out of high school for a certain time to pursue a chosen career in pro basketball but it’s okay for them to join the Army? Which is more dangerous, driving the lane in MSG or driving a truck in Kabul?Brandon Jennings had the right idea in spending a year making money in Italy before he was eligible to play in the NBA. I’m surprised more players haven’t followed his example, since it’s pretty obvious a LOT of these guys have zero interest in earning a college degree.

Google tells me there is a youngster named Jabari Ali Parker, so presumably this strip is about him. Did someone poke him with a hot branding iron — or want to?

One year of NCAA ball is good training for a future pro career, the fan and media interest are a good intro for the young player into big league sports.
