I love Jim’s artwork and I appreciate a railroad related story. I also understand the cartoon suspend reality. Still, this story so far, is a stretch even for the cartoon world.

Tires burn very hot. They would need to be cut up to go into the firebox. I once melted a trash barrel burning tires. They made lovely black smoke.
