Quite Right! Had a job years back where most things could be handled by my Swiss Army Knife and/or My Leatherman.

I finally had an opportunity to use the corkscrew on my knife, back in the 80s, when I was passing through Houston on New Year’s. My cousin had a bottle of wine, and I produced the tool and began applying it, along with a monologue on the proper use… then the bottle exploded in my hands, sending glass shrapnel into my fingers. Truly an unforgettable evening for me. (I’ve opened more bottles since then, never with the same result. No idea why that happened.)

Yup! I have both a Leatherman Wave and a Swiss Army Knife. Can’t tell you how many times one or both these tools saved the day; especially when on the water!

A real Plugger with a Swiss Army knife never had to invent a doodad like MacGyver always had to do.

david_42: The corkscrew is only in the officer’s version. I suppose other ranks have to do with beer. At least in the Swiss army, everyone starts out as cadet and has to work their way up through the ranks – no breaking in line because your uncle is in parliament.
