I once cooked some pinto beans with a hambone for a friend whose wife was from somewhere north of Oklahoma and didn’t cook beans. The juice jellied because of the ham juice. Wife and teenage daughter wouldn’t eat it.

I don’t like sweetened meat. It seems as most people like sweetened ham.
Here is a glaze recipe that I once heard folks rave about. I have never tried it, though.
It’s 1/2 brown sugar and 1/2 raspberry Jello.
