From TV: Even some republican insiders have criticized the president's new focus on space exploration. Said on GOP senator, "the president should keep his focus on firmly running this planet before he tries to mess up the moon and mars."
No matter what the president does, and no matter who that is, a third of our population will scream that he/she is doing it all wrong, It’s best to ignore the screamers and accomplish something. We need to maintain our highways, defense, and other infrastructure, but with the funds left over, space exploration is a wonderful idea. It can give us a way to survive if something happens to this planet, and most of modern technology owes its existence to space exploration research. Back in the 40s or 50s the transistor was developed, and modern computer chips are developed from those. Thousands of inventions have come from that research, and most are available to the public in our everyday gadgets. We really need to keep it up. You want better and cheaper gadgets? Then we need technological research.
