Ever notice the wounds to our heroes are rarely life threatening? No head shots, no gut shots.

    Wes… a time-honored tradition…from Tom Mix right through TV tropes…

The hero has to live till the next episode…Another film, another arc, another disposable villain….but the star rides on.

Good morning JW fans. Chelle is going to leave her wounded partner? And chase the suspect? The suspect is long gone by now.

didn’t the comic code from the fifties prohibit killing in comics? The villains couldn’t die. Spiderman, Batman and Superman fought the same dumb bad guys over and over. Maybe that’s why, in Mystery Men, Captain Amazing released Casanova Frankenstein from prison. Oh wait! Capt. Amazing’s sponsor, Pepsi, suggested the move so they could sell product.

Re: John Wayne. If you were black and you took a walk in an old Tarzan movie, you fell off a cliff and died.

Chelle’s head seems to have inflated in the last panel.

There is almost nowhere in the shoulder that you can be shot without either losing the use of that arm or losing the arm itself. Most are life threatening — minor flesh wounds being the exception.

Back to “blood.” I nicked my knuckles on a sharp metal edge when my wrench slipped. It barely broke the skin, but I bled all over myself, the machine, and the garage floor as I walked 20 feet over to the big first aid kit I keep in the tool area. I bled much more than either Jill OR the dead perp! I looked like an outtake from one of those blood and gore films.

When I was much younger, I saw fresh crime scenes before the victims were removed. Alive or dead, there was a LOT more blood!
