When I was ill a couple of months ago, my son, who lives 300 miles away, wanted to come and stay with me. I absolutely did not want that, for many reasons, but it took a little strong arguing from me to persuade him (and his sister) that I would be alright on my own (I was).
I appreciate the love of my children, but just as parents have to sometimes learn to let go, so do children.
As for Claire, I wouldn’t want her anywhere near me in this situation if her plan, as articulated a couple of days ago, is to yell at the doctors.

Thank you Carla… My first smile of the day… That’s such a lovely thought… and Dad thought so too… makes it even more special…

A spoiler, please! is dad going to be okay? Yes or no. If no, I’m going to tune out for a few weeks.
