Beni: That's the last snow pile. All the rest have melted. Dill: There's a big dirty snow pile in the grocery store parking lot. Alice: Petey says that one's infested with little trolls called Sootis who carry off unwary shoppers! And they sometimes carry off GROCERY CARTS! Dill: WHAT? Can nothing be done?

Wasn’t one of Dill’s brothers a cart herder?
rayannina almost 15 years ago
I think he just used old carts to beta-test his trebuchet.

I am not sure how much credence I would give to any statements made by Petey. Now Alice, on the other hand, can make it snow on command.

I like Petey’s grip on reality.

The big, dirty piles of grocery store snow used to last each year until late April in Utica, N.Y. No matter what the weather conditions, the parking lot was always wet – & thus, one’s footware – from the melting snow.

What a predicament for these youngsters. Maybe Dill’s brother got promoted.

You might use a catapult to throw a grocery cart, but not a trebuchet, I think…

I love Petey. His mission in life is “how to drive my little sister crazy”.

Now kids be very careful when dealing with trolls. They can be very nasty!

If memory serves: There’s a guy in England throwing autos with a trebuchet. I think carts would be fair game

Here’s another chance to shine, Dill! After your experience with the Crafts Supply Closet, dealing with cart-rustling Sootis should be a snap.

Quite right, Fritzoid

Thanks, rac0308- the thing I know to be that device shoots just little narrow projectiles, weighted at one end through a narrow opening in the trebuchet.

@vldazzle, I think you are referring to a ballista, which is like a giant crossbow. Check out the different siege engines here:
