    Hmm. I think “do” is acceptable, though suboptimal. As in, “Alice, in your mind how do I even know that?”

    Yeah, I’ve heard “do” used idiomatically this way, but it still strikes me as awkward.

    Do werewolves age in human years, or dog years? By the usual 7-for-1 reckoning Petey would be less than two in dog age, and in relative maturation he’d be about a six-month pup. He might still be “chewy”…
