An experienced Plugger mama gets a sudden hunch, runs outside and checks the sky and whips the laundry ito safety only moments before the downpour. My MIL amazed me that way. Lived in FL all her life, lots of experience.
I still use my solar clothes dryer on the white things and blue jeans…maybe I’m having a “senior moment” but before we had a clothes dryer, it didn’t seem that the colored clothes faded the way they do now…
A friend was rooming with the musician Kenny G in college. It was a hot day and he’d put his clothes in the dryer and left. They took his clothes out and threw them outside because he didn’t hang them on the clothesline and used the energy of the dryer unnecessarily.
You try drying your clothes outside here. Be it on those portable camper lines or stands. Some idiot will call the city to claim that you are living without utilities. Especially even more so if there is a child in the house. Some one did that to me. Husband ended up taking the city worker thru the house to prove we had utilities. We were also told that we could not dry our clothes outside anymore by the worker.

Always wondered how do you deal with that kind of karma.

Just like TV antennae attached to chimneys, the neighborhood clothesline is a thing of the past.

At least the rain washes off the bird droppings…

If this is the only dryer does it really make a difference if you bring them in?

The fun part of that was really in the winter, when everything would freeze solid…NOT!!!

I have mine on the line today. Nice breeze and quite warm. Sure beats using electricity, plus I get fresh air, sunshine and exercise.

There’s too many birds in my neighborhood for a clothesline.

Just leave them there for the final rinse! They’ll dry eventually…

I used to hang clothes on the line. The first sign of rain does produce amazing bursts of speed in getting the laundry in.

And her help refuses to get wet. IF he even helps her out at all.

The AMAZING new solar clothes dryer, a few kinks left in it, however.
