Either she and Burl really DIDN’T enjoy it or she baked a cake for Connie, but felt she and Burl were entitled to a good portion of it. Prolly the latter, since I can’t see either Burl or Joy NOT liking food of almost any sort.
Now I’m really confused! I think Purple is right. There is no way the Pennys would ever not eat the whole cake, even if it were terrible. It is possible that they scarfed up a large piece of it, but like a classic alcoholic, they wouldn’t be able to stop themselves from eating the whole thing. Sigh.Perhaps this is a frozen Dollar Dump cake that was so freezer burned that even Burl couldn’t—not wouldn’t, mind you—eat it.In any event, you can rest assured that Joy bought this baby, ‘cause she doesn’t bake.
I can’t believe Joy and Burl didn’t finish the cake either. I agree that it’s probably that bad or another horrible cake. But then again how long ago did Connie give them something on that plate? Maybe it was put in the back of the fridge and forgotten.Or is it the Friendship cake that was going to be returned a few months ago??
The look on Connies’s face says it is her cake coming back unappreciated, but perhaps she made a bad one on purpose who knows. I would love to take the Penny’s a sugar free – fat free cake with sugar free frosting.
I think that between Purple and Mike, you figured out the conundrum of the Penny’s RETURNING part of a cake. They bought one at the dollar dump (to not return an empty plate) and HAD to have a piece, but it was SO BAD that even they could eat no more than a small piece each, so why not return it this way to Connie?
I think she bought a dollar store cake, and ate part of it. then, by leaving some “leftovers” on the plate…she doesn’t have to wash it. I think it’s more about her laziness about washing the plate then anything else.

I think Noreen has it right! Joy is nothing if not lazy! The only reason to put another cake on the plate is to avoid WASHING it!
I just was not thinking like a Penny.
