I think the point is poking fun at those who collect guns, but keep them locked up. Just as tusks are used for defense for the elephant, so our guns should be worn and ready for use, rather than locked up safe. (Of course, if you’ve got more guns than you can wear, you should keep the ones you’re not using at the moment locked up to keep them out of the hands of children and criminals.)
