A BOGO wedding dress? What? And a dual-function hope chest? Maybe the hope chest/cot is for Maureen O’Hara wannabes that want to keep their things about them. As for the BOGO, maybe useful if the bride’s name is Lecter!
I’m guessing it’s because marriages don’t last long now days. The hope chest/cot is for when she moves out and needs a bed . I don’t get Burls thought either. Unless it’s a candle that you can’t blow out..
It is SECOND THOUGHTS WEDDING SHOPPE, could be a lot of their customers back out and need the second dress for a couple months later when the next groom is picked..Then there is always the issue of getting the dress you dreamed of at fitting time and then the big one for when the baby is due shortly after the wedding.
About the unity candle: At some weddings they have three candles set up, the middle one being a unity candle. Before the ceremony, or during it, the bride’s parents light one, and the groom’s parents light the other. During the ceremony, the bride and groom light the unity candle together, using the candles their parents had lit.
I think the cartoon is poking fun at people who marry more than once (Elizabeth Taylor was married 8 times, but only twice to Richard Burton). But, it is now (alarmingly) becoming more common for women to use more than one wedding gown. For instance, one for the wedding and a second different one for the reception.
