Transcript:
Smoking was compulsory for schoolboys in the 17th century at England's famous Eton School because it was thought to prevent the plague. No sausages for you! The Roman Emperor Constantine (272-337 A.D.) banned sausages because they were associated with pagan festivals. When London's iconic Nelson's Column Memorial was repaired in 2006, it was found to be only 170 FT tall- 15 feet shorter than had been thought for the previous 163 years.

I don’t which is weirder: links of meat being banned, or using a health hazard as a repellent for another health hazard. Methinks the latter.

I condemn the writers of this strip for telling about the sausage ban because you’’re just giving the nanny state known as NYC more things to try and ban

Maybe Nelson’s statue was 185 feet tall…. but of COURSE it has gotten shorter!
I myself have already lost half an inch from my adult height, and I’m nowhere near 163 years old.

Many historians believe Constantine was a closet Christian for many years, for political reasons, only coming out at the end of his life.

What did you learn today?
Nelson’s sausage was shorter than he told everyone. Maybe because he smoked.

It was common early on to wait until the last minute to get baptized, washing away all prior sins. They stopped doing that because too many people died first.

You’d think that someone would’ve calculated the height by comparing shadows.

First surveyor of Nelson’s column might have been drunk on too many Guiness pints..Probably a public servant who said“Close enough for government work.”

Makes sense: Kill someone with lung cancer, and they won’t get the plague!
