Laura: How's your homework coming? Clayton: Will I ever use fractions in real life? Laura: Of course. You're building an intellectual foundation that will carry you through the rest of your life. Adam: Laura! Where's my ringmaster outfit? Laura: Believe it or not, your dad was a great student.

Ellen DeGeneres: “They say we only use 10% of our brains. Imagine that, only 10%! Just think of all the things we might accomplish if we could only harness the other 60%!”

Good student. That’s why he’s living at home of his wife’s paycheck.

He’s not “living off his wife’s paycheck”, he’s working from a home-based business. (Granted, he doesn’t often seem to be working hard at it, but still…)
I don’t know whether it has ever been established just how successful Adam’s business IS, but it’s presumably doing well enough that it’s worthwhile to keep it going.
From time to time Laura pushes Adam to spend less; I don’t recall her ever pressuring him to earn more.

Laura, you are not helping Clayton see your point, you know.

Clayton, if you’re an employee or an employer, you need to be able to figure out time-and-a-half. If you sell on a commission basis, you need to make sure you are being compensated correctly.

I am studying the y=mx+b thing in math and graphing on that stupid graph with 4 quadrants and I’m positive I will never use this when I am an editor of Lucky magazine.
