I was kind of hoping Demon Cat would stow away in the car. Cute little thingā¦at least she would be once she spent a week under Dougās highchair and put on some pounds! Just think how she and Sophie could ābondā while they picked up the ābitsā!
Funny how weāve kind of grown attached to her isnāt it!
Ahem. Brian? Where is she?
The Demon Cat of Georgia is back in Georgia where she belongs. If she left there, sheād have to change her name, and who needs the hassle of all that paperwork?
Besides, once the bat-wings appeared, it became more apparent that sheās not suitable as a recurring character. Animals thinking dialogue to each other, and a lab puppy dreaming sheās a bullwhip-wielding action heroine, are one level of fantasy. Supernatural cats are another level of fantasy, and having one around on a regular basis would unground the strip.
If youāre going to lobby for the Demon Cat, why not lobby for a spin-off strip? That way, Anderson could give you the (literally) damned cat every day, she could flit around on her wings as much as she wants, and it wouldnāt disrupt the Sophie/Doug dynamic which is the whole point of THIS strip?
Doc, Iām (mostly) joking, too. But I suspect some others are not. Iām not pro-cat by any means, but Iām not as anti-cat as my comments often read. (I guess you could say Iām anti-pro-cat. I AM pro-dog, but like you anti-cute, and I think Anderson mostly successfully avoids the āAwwwwwā¦ā moments; yesterday was near my threshhold, though.)
I, too, like the strip the way it is and am content to let Anderson do what he wants with it, but if people are going to lobby for the addition of a cat, I want to make it clear that the desire for one is not universal.
If by some chance Anderson did spin off a āDemon Catā strip, Iād check it out, but more for the fantasy element than the cat element (and as far as cartoon cats go, D.C. has been a very good one).
