Back when The Bullwinkle Show was on prime time (7 pm Sundays 1961 – 1962) there was a Bullwinkle hand puppet for a while. One night, with some time to kill, the puppet told kids that, if they wanted to be sure to see Bullwinkle again next week, they should grab those round things on the TV and pull them off. The following week, the puppet told the kids to glue the round things back on. And you never saw the Bullwinkle puppet after that.

More like TubeWorld. I remember tube testing machines in stores. One was in a convenience store, just outside of Washingthon, DC, as late as ’71.

I can remember any number of times changing channels with a pair of needle nose pliers when the knob had broken and hadn’t yet been replaced.
