I recognize the score, and yes, Mozart did write it….but it was written to be played on a banjo—not a clarinet.

    Too many notes.

(grazer, that’s an oboe. Mozart composed “Digital Fidgets” for oboe, banjo, piano, cello, bongo, and piccolo. It’s one of those pieces he wrote when he was 4.)

I don’t believe he played that many notes at once, but I love the storm cloud effect and that some fell on Alice - very cute!

“Digital Fidgets” sounds like one of those companies you see in the credits of movies that handle the special effects Industrial Light and Magic has to farm out. Probably half a dozen caffeine-fueled 25 year-olds working out of a converted fish warehouse down in Dogpatch…

Hay I bet if we could use this tune and add some words and it’d be a bit hit on the Pop charts !!!!

    lets add some lyrics:

Every Puddle has a rainbow Every Puddle has a rainbow Every Puddle has a rainbow Every Puddle has a rainbow Every Puddle has a rainbow

Haha, you guys are tops. …………………………………..

Perfect lyrics for the tune, gillbill….but the piece needs a catchy chorus….

    Chorus:

Every Puddle has a rainbow Every Puddle has a rainbow Every Puddle has a rainbow Every Puddle has a rainbow

    …with a grand finale’ crescendo….

    Every Puddle has a rainbooooooow!

What an amazing coincidence! Mozart’s original lyric is:

Jede Pfütze hat einen Regenbogen, Jede Sturmabwasserkanal ist voll von Abfall, Ich habe jetzt ein Glas Schokoladenmilch getrunken, Und ich habe einen großen Schnurrbart!

It doesn’t rhyme in the German, but it has a certain oomph!

Excellent, fritzoid, and for those who DON’T have Firefox translator: “Every puddle has a rainbow Any storm sewer is full of waste, I have just drunk a glass of chocolate milk, And I have a great mustache!”

I’ve solved the mystery! “Digital Fidgets” wasn’t written by Mozart, it was written by the archfiend Salieri, who signed Mozart’s name to the composition in an attempt to discredit his hated rival! That would explain Mozart’s denial of responsibility.

There’s a movie to be made there, somewhere. Maybe we can get that Da Vinci Code guy…

I seem to recall seing those very notes falling off the score of one of PDQ Bach’s pieces, which was reprinted in: Schickele, Peter. “The Definitive Biography of P. D. Q. Bach, (1807–1742)?”. New York: Random House, 1976. ISBN 0-394-73409-2.

    The mystery is solved!
