Wow, check out those buns of peel! Don’t know why those guys think they’re going to get away with that, he’s no little squirt. He’s full of pith and vinegar.
When I started posting links, first on Comics.com and then on GoComics, com, I saw that the target attribute wasn’t supported, so I eventually gave up and left it out.
I recently found it working in some other people’s comments… and I was happy to resume using it.
About yesterday’s strip… I never said it was theft. I was explaining why it wasn’t.
It was a response to accusations of plagiarism made by various posters in similar situations,I’ve seen them jump out of the woodwork to accuse a cartoonist of copying their favorite obscure webcomics.. perhaps one that contained a barely related joke 3 years ago.
However, I don’t agree that this case was like the well-known comics memes you mentioned. Those are so cliche they get purposely re-circulated and even parodied.
Some strips use the same one over and over…. there’s a fly in a Fusco Brother’s soup every week.
The ALS thing is topical… I think many cartoonists will use it once, each innocently thinking he or she is the only one, and then it will disappear.

I heard he asked Margarita to be his main squeeze…but she’s so popular, in spite of her glasses, that he just didn’t make the cut.
The other two are actually his younger brothers…they just like to get his juices flowing cos they know he won’t use his strength against them,
