BigChiefDesoto - Hurray! Someone else who knows of Spike Jones! My grandmother used to play Spike Jones records for us when we were small kids and I collected his works later on. He was the original! Al Yankovitch owes a lot to him.

Maybe he should drop her off at the Grand old opera ..lol I have never figured out how the word opera morphed into opery and stayed that way.

Hey Gill, its “Opry”.

I’ve learned to appreciate the arts – even ballet. (Sit way up close, where you can admire the sheer strength and athleticism that goes into the dance.) But I still can’t get my head around opera.

Spike and his band were great!! Weird Al owes more to Stan Freberg than Spike, though. Perfect imitation as satire was Stan’s forte.
