Wasn’t Patrick enslaved by the English (forced to work as a shepherd) before moving to Ireland to spread the word. He must have been Irish if the English made him a slave. Death and slavery just for remaining true to the church.
On St Pat’s if a leprechaun sees his shadow, there is a pub around the corner.
This reminds me of one of those email forwards where someone is saying the Lord’s Prayer, and right after they say ‘Our Father, Who art in Heaven’, they hear a Voice say ‘Yes?’ and they’re like ‘Shh…I’m praying!’
God says ‘Well, you called Me, didn’t you?’
and the guy says ‘no…I’m just saying the Lord’s Prayer…’
Actually, St. Patrick was English, captured and enslaved by the Irish. He escaped Ireland & slavery, went back to England for a fairly short time, and then decided to return to Ireland as a missionary. (It is amazing what I’ve learned in teaching my sons!)
