I heard last night on NPR that there are 90 communities in St. Louis county and 85 of them have their own police department, court, etc. And even more shocking was that a major part of each community’s revenue was derived from fines. It’s funny how things evolve. I’m sure glad I don’t live there.
I was just going for the pun. But, Nonsense, yourself. Graft is one thing, bad enough. But bought and paid for judges sending increasing numbers of underrepresented poor people to jail to profit their privatized cronies is what I call corruption of the worst kind.
