What’s really funny is that Andy is actually right this time. If he can’t support the lifestyle she expects, they shouldn’t be together. Better a bitter break-up now than a short, unhappy marriage and a nasty divorce later.
There’s a strip where Flo discusses with Andy how they could get some money to buy a wedding present for some friends. Flo suggests they could pawn their rings (wedding or engagement), but Andy replies “Nah, we can’t, they’re not genuine.” (Flo got angry.)
She wants an expensive ring? What’s she going to want in the way of house, car and clothes? Dr Capp sees all, hears all knows all, and certainly tells all. Listen to the voice of reason,. Dump her!
I found out how cheap I was when I tried to unload our rings at the pawn shop next to the strip bar.
Yeah, that’s it, buy it on the “no money down, easy, friendly payment plan”, and 6 months later she’s down the road with that rock, still on her hand, and this bloke is still making payments and eating baloney sandwiches, and all alone…..sure, what a plan.
There was a strip where Andy comes home after a fight in the pub. He tells Flo her brother was telling everyone about the cheap engagement ring he got her.
Flo responds “The silly devil, you DIDN’T..I bought it myself!” Andy says “I kept tellin’ him!”
Where my husband used to work at something close to this happened. A guy was dating this woman and he worked a lot of over time she wanted to keep spending and when no overtime just normal overs still kept spending. He had bought them both expensive rings she chose the style she wanted. They where engaged until he wised up and ended it with her went to bankruptcy court and told he had to pay $100 to court and he had to sell something so he sold the expensive rings for $100 for quick money. My husband bought those rings and I still have mine.
So Andy you might be right on your advice to him about that woman he thinking of marring. Why go in-debt to her when you can go in debt to Andy for beer?

That man, who complained about how expensive the cost is to buy an engagement ring for his girlfriend, should save the money till he feels ready to buy an engagment ring.
He should have used his common sense.
Andy, wrong answer! The man would not dump his girlfriend anyway. I think more likely he loves his girlfriend very much. Sighhhh! (roll my eyes up/down.)
The barkeep is correct. Beware of jewelry store clerks!
Andy’s own marriage has been such a success, in part, because of his rejection of those things material that can tear a marriage apart. Though Flo sometimes loses her way, Andy is always there to keep her on the right path.
Good advice Andy! Sometimes “tough love” is necessary in a successful relationship.

Well if you’d quit drinkin’ with Andy (and paying for his too) you could save that much in a wink.

Get rid of her. Chicks are like buses… If you miss one another one will be here in 5 minutes…
