Never understood people who put in a few bucks when its empty. Put in a few bucks to fill it up. What are you, a teenager seeing how far you can go on E?

I used to could drive about 300 miles on $5 worth of gas in 1968 when I was paying 18 cents a gallon.

rac, I know what ya mean. back when I was going to LSU $3 of gas in my hot rod Mustang would take me from Baton Rouge back down to New Orleans which was about 95 miles or so, and I know I wasn’t getting any better than 12-15 mpg in that thing, especially with the A/C running.

Where did you buy your gas? It was more like 34¢ - 36¢ a gallon in ‘68. A lot of people were relieved when the price freezes Nixon declared in ‘71 didn’t include gas because it was at the ungodly price of 41¢.

By the way, in 2009 dollars, that was the equivalent of $2.31 a gallon, so it really wasn’t that much cheaper.

when I was a teenager, gas was 85 cents a gallon. Couldn’t really afford a full tank of gas. Gas is almost $3 a gallon, and I still can’t afford a full tank of gas…

I don’t think this in itself qualifies you. You’d also have to have the gage and the day counter broken…
