This confirms my belief that Grandma might not be as old as she looks…
Her face says “Ozzie Nelson fan” but having a 10 year-old granddaughter and the small hints about her wild past … those things say “No, it was Ozzie Osbourne.”.
But Metallica?? Agnes can’t be expected to know…. but the heyday of Metallica was during Ozzie’s solo career…. 20 years after he left Black Sabbath.
If Grandma was 20 then…. wow…. she’d only be about 45 now…. She can’t be that young…. but did Metallica have any 35-year-old fans?
I’m old enough to have heard Jimi Hendrix. But according to my mom, I was too young to head to Woodstock. In fact – here on the West Coast (now very Wet) – all our parents thought we kids were too young to travel even to Seattle (a 3 hour drive) without an adult. Grandma is older than Trout’s mom, so Grandma must be ancient! In the eyes of the girls.and thank you for the last panel. I read Big Bands and thought Benny Goodman. Love the Big Bands in the last panel.
“Being poor can make you old before your time.”.People who party hard age faster too. I had a coworker once that I was sure was several years older than I am… then I learned that she was actually 6 years younger.
“Not that old”?? “Ozzie and Metallica”??!? Dear heaven, I started singing along with the girl groups and Chubby Checker. I better check and make sure I should still be walking!!

Well Agnes, you were pretty cutting edge. All those sounds out of one string. Most people would need at least three.

In the early 70’s I took Black Sabbath’s music as seriously as they took themselves. When I hear one of there songs today I have to laugh.

I’ve seen Jimi Hendrix…twice; if that gives you any idea how old I am.

For Grandma’s age go back to the April 14th 2014 strip where Agnes finds her Kiss concert t-shirt autographed by Gene Simmons to number 602.
