Actually, the King looks pleased with himself and mellow about his request and his helper. It’s the utility of hunting for Easter eggs in the first place that I’d question.

I think Joe Doty got it right. The Easter Egg Hunt is scheduled for just AFTER this scene. The kids show up as the king walks away.
