Missed the point, Adam, missed the point.

Friar Tuck and I pay for cable because that IS our entertainment. Different ways of looking at things.

with HDTV & cable you can have clear viewing and 200 channels and there is absolutely nothing to watch

It’s all a matter of priorities:

After no cell phone, no eating out more than 2-3 times a year, no cable, no day care, and my wife and I were able to pay off our 30 yr mortgage in 11 years. Now we have plenty of extra money and can make up for all the time we did without. We’re planning to take our kids to Europe.

this is a first - he didn’t object to the “make all our coffee at home” part! I thought it was rerun at first.

I agree Ji2m, percolated coffee from Mom’s Farberware pot was always the better coffee, and french press espresso is the best. I never made regular coffee in one though. (Tell that to my 800.00 espresso machine that just sits on the counter.) Starbucks tastes burned to me, and not worth the price.

I think the real point here was that they have to cut back to make ends meet, or they wouldn’t be looking at ways to cut back in the first place, and Adam has the hypothetical savings spent on something they already have, when they obviously need it for other things.
