That’s cute….

A mouthy brat is cute?

Mouthy brat? She obviously never bad-mouthed the restaurant leftovers when they were the meals given to her. She only gave her opinion when directly asked by Gene. In fact, she seems to be delighted to be provided with whatever Gene has in mind.

Out of the mouth of babes.

It is time for the little lady to start cooking for her own future; she may need a job when her mother gets back from Paris.

So how many years passed since the strip grew Meg up overnight? How many years did it take to sell the restaurant? There are a lot of unanswered questions! I am finding the time frames “awkward”. Still one of my favorite strips! Maybe an occasional flashback or two?

I guess the letter was just filler. Or will it surface later? I hate this not knowing.

I guess Jimmy likes to keep us on our toes, or on tenterhooks or something.

I’d rather have hand-me-down food than regurgitated.

Isn’t there a saying: The cobbler’s children always go barefoot. Along the lines of “Physician, heal thyself.”

My family ran a small ‘50s style diner when I was 9. I learned to love hamburger steak, fries, brown gravy and the daily veggie. I worked in the kitchen, slicing potatoes for fries, washing dishes & hauling trash out back. It wasn’t fun but I’ve good memories from that.

@ArianneAs the daughter of a cobbler, I must admit we always had great shoes. My father never would have let us wear plastic shoes, and he always kept our leather shoes in great repair.

I don’t think the letter had anything to do with the story. She was just getting the mail out of the box on her way to the house after the school bus dropped her off. Rural kids do that all the time. She was just being shown as a happy kid coming home from school instead of going to the restaurant like she was probably used to.
