@afficionadoObit in San Francisco Chronicle, 20/10/14: Joseph Grech. Passed on 16/10/14. Born in Mosta, 1932. Parents Michael & Victoria (Gauci) Grech. Any relation??? If so, condolences.
Check the BBC news for the lastest on cleaning up the canals. (Andyâs ancestors used to fall in the moat all the timeâŠâŠâŠâŠ itâs an inherited skillâŠâŠâŠâŠ..)
@Number SixI didnât know Stel was retiring. Maybe you were not paying her well enough ;-) I might volunteer for the job except I donât have a clue on how to do it. Maybe Bev or Eldo will step up.
Forget telegraphing the punch line, this punch line was smoke signaled!@beviekThanks for posting the âRoyalsâ parody yesterday. Lordeâs original is actually one of the few modern songs I like (and would even without knowing the back story that it was inspired by a National Geographic photo of Royals legend George Brett). Care to do a bonus favor and post the original?@Number SixIâd love to see Oscar and Wild even in black and white!

Not only you, but the shot looked well composed ! Was that your design ? Izzat your chest puffing out ?! -Your computer has good taste ! -Friday was good.-So, you have a beau ?I remember that song as a radio staple. Have to admit that even though it is a good tune it got old quick. I could not and did not listen to it multiple times a day, just changed the channel. -I hope youâll have enough left that you may get to see the New Year too !-Iâm sure his âeyeball caves will widen with ma-mazementâ ! -Monday was good, thank you.__________________________________________________
Well⊠UmmâŠYes, That is my chest sticking out. I might have known your eyes wouldnât stay on my face for long! They always seem to drift downwardsâŠ-I love Fridays. I prefer Fridays over the actual weekend. I was born on a Friday actually. -I find I can listen to some songs over and over and not get tired of them. I might be getting a new phone soon because the one I have is getting on a bit. Itâs 2 years old and itâs difficult to switch on and off . It has a button on top and itâs practically worn out. I donât want a new phone yet though, Itâs still working well apart from that one thing.-I got a new battery for my phone last month and it lasts a lot longer than the old battery. The new one is supposed to have less power too but Iâve found I can listen to music for longer than when I had the old battery.-The lost blood restores itself after 24 hours, Clever, eh? When I donated my 3rd pint of blood, I felt really terrible and poorly but soon recovered after a good nightâs sleep. I have never fainted before after giving blood because they make you drink a lot of water to reduce this.-May you have a Totally Terrific Tuesday!
@Number SixInterestingly enough, there was a bit of a debate in âShoeâ today, because for some reason it was printed in black and white instead of color, but later today it was in color. I NEVER saw âShoeâ in color (except for Sundays, natch), until I recently started to read it here, when my local paper got rid of it for an abomination that shall remain nameless, and I had to read it on here. One poster hoped the lack of color on weekday âShoesâ would be temporary, and another hoped it would be permanent. For most of the history of comic strips, the weekdays were always âjustâ black and white, and I donât recall people whining about that. (Then again, I wasnât alive at the time, lol.) Even these days, plenty of newspapers (our younger posters might need to look that term up somewhereâŠâŠ.) print the weekday comics in black and white. (Like âThe Kansas City Starâ does, and Iâm not talking about Roger Millerâs song, although this IS a âhint hintâ to beviek for yet another favorâŠâŠ) So, although I always enjoyed the color, Iâd also love to see your Oscar and Wild comic in black and white!
About cow pattiesâŠâŠ..when I was in college, I was in a production of âThe Music Man.â I could NOT seem to get one of my lines right. I was supposed to object to âProfessorâ Harold Hillâs alleged musical virtuosity by saying something like âHe canât tell a bass drum from a pipe organ!â It kept coming out in all weird directions: âpipe bassâ or âdrum organâ or âbass pipeâ or whatever. Finally, at our last dress rehearsal, I just froze completely. Couldnât get anything, until in desperation I tossed out, âHe canât tell a cowbell from a buffalo chip!â Which got a big laugh from the cast onstage. Which the director kindly allowed me to keep, and it got big laughs from the crowds at the actual performance. We now return you to our regularly scheduled comments, and hope that Jonathan Mason wasnât taking notesâŠâŠâŠâŠ
Thank you, everyone, for all really nice things youâve had to say about my coloring efforts on Steveâs strips ( Oscar&Wild AND Jailbirds ) in the past year. It was âlearn as you goâ for me, and learn I didâŠ.so I want to extend my thanks to Steve for giving me that opportunity and to all of you for cheering us on!And, I do hope that someone else will answer Steveâs ad and take over the job. It is a fascinating process and a lot of fun to do. I wish I had more time to continue doing it.
Could we PLEASE get somebodyâs great-grandmotherâs Pekingeseâs pet gerbil to pinch-hit???? Never mind, Iâm in a RIGHT mood.@beviekThanks for the post, and weâll get âem tomorrow!@afficionadoNice to see youâre up this late in Malta! And if a dog that drags you six yards is the friendliest youâve known, Iâd hate to see the meanest!
