Actually, a lot of the state laws aren’t written by lawyers. You don’t need a law degree to be elected to the legislature.
As someone soon to be in the legal profession, I do strongly object to those tv commercials recruiting litigants. It seems unethical to me for lawyers to talk people into suing. People in trouble should seek out lawyers, not the other way around.
