Transcript:
Dad: You're leaving for your date with Gregorio? Tia Carmen: How do I look? Dad: Um... aren't you bit overdressed for coffee and sweet bread? Tia Carmen: Maybe so. Tia Carmen: I'll got without the hat!
Hey, Carlos, as long as you’re here, how do you and Hector split the workload on the strip? Does Hector have day-to-day involvement, or is he more simply the “co-creator”? (A cursory Google search couldn’t enlighten me.)
rac0308 That is why Tia Carmen’s favorite color is purple.
By the way, Tia Carmen, you don’t have to be overdressed for dating with Gregorio at the café for lunch. You look fine with long scarf that will be good enough. :-)
Burgundy2- yeah, all talk, all tease, all the time, as my wife would say. : )
fritzoid - We’re both equally involved in the day to day production.
Hector will typically write the gag a day strips from his own noodle or write them based on conversations we’ve had. Storylines such as the one going on right now, is something that we develop together on the phone, dialog, pacing, imagery, etc.
He then sends me final scripts based on those conversations, which *I usually come up with brilliant dialog tweeks/suggestions on.
• Hector really appreciates me doing this. ; )
I then draw up the strips, and send them off to Hector for his approval. It’s actually a good last minute opportunity to see if we can tighten up the dialog or art one last time before sending them off to the syndicate.
So there you have it. Probably more info than you were bargaining for.
Thanks, Carlos! That’s more information than I was expecting, but not more than I was hoping for. On collaborative works, I’m always interested in the process. Personally, it’d probably drive me crazy…

Oh, I can’t contain myself…
This is what happens, Tîa Carmen meets Gregorio over lunch and, they’re drinking coffee, right? And then… oh never mind.
You’ll just have to wait.

I think Gregorio is planning on marrying someone else and will be asking Tia for advice, as a casual friend.
