Outdated metaphor, thebearwoman. The Cubbies have been playing better-than-average ball for quite some time. They just haven’t been able to advance BEYOND the early rounds of the playoffs…

There’s an Australian term, “Drongo”, which is currently used to mean “total loser”, but which was originally inspired by a racehorse of that name who, despite performing very well over his career, never managed to win a major race. That’s how the Cubs have been playing of late; they aren’t continual cellar-dwellers anymore, but they’re perpetual runners-up.

I haven’t touched Anheuser-Busch products for 27 years because I hate the Cardinals.

I hate the Cardinals, too, but that’s not why I don’t drink Anheuser-Busch products. I just think they’re awful… :-)
