In 1920, 10,000 people lined the streets of Newark, New Jersey, to pay their respects to a local pet canary called Jimmy, who was carried in a coffin by a 500 strong funeral possession complete with a 15 piece band. Studies have shown that hospital patients in rooms with views of trees recover quicker than patients with no views or windows revealing brick walls. I have had small funerals for each of my 12 parakeets,just me and my Daughter, saying a few words, andburying them in the back yard wherever I was living at the time! I had each bird about 7 or 8 years!

When the Panama Canal was under construction a hospital put trees outside the windows in pots of water.The water attracted mosquitoes and spread malaria.Rough times!
